Deepa studied Law & Psychology at De Montfort University graduating in 2000 and qualified as a solicitor in 2005. Deepa joined Timms in December 2023 based in our Derby office.

Deepa specialises in commercial property advising clients on a variety of commercial property matters. These include advising landlord and tenants on the grant or renewal of business leases together with disposal and assignments of leases. She also handles sale and purchases of business assets.

Deepa enjoys working out at the gym, hot yoga and walking. When she is not exercising, she enjoys spending time with her family.

Sara has been at Timms for over 30 years and is one of the longest serving members of staff.

Sara commenced her working life at the CAB on a voluntary basis, before moving to work at a Derby firm of solicitors as a legal secretary and then finally joining Timms, initially as a legal secretary.

Whilst working as a secretary, Sara undertook the ILEX qualification via a correspondence course and qualified as a Member of the Institute of Legal Executives in June 1996, leading to admission as a Fellow of the Institute in June 1998. Sara practiced in other areas of law before settling in the Non Contentious, Wills & Probate department in 2000, where she finally found her niche and very much enjoys this area of work.

Keith joined the Probate Department at Timms in 2003. He qualified as a Solicitor in 1999 having spent 10 years in the NHS as a Registered Nurse specialising in Coronary Care and Intensive Care. He completed a full time law degree and Legal Practice Course whilst working in the NHS and commenced a training contract with Timms in 1997.

Since qualifying Keith has worked for a large City firm specialising in medical defence, inquests, consent matters and other medico-legal issues. He returned to Timms in 2003 when the opportunity to work locally offered more time to spend with his young family.

Keith has now worked in Probate at Timms for many years and although he enjoys working with clients of all ages he finds care of the elderly work particularly satisfying especially when capacity issues are involved.

Sophie graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a first class law degree in 2021 and attained a distinction in her Legal Practice Course and Masters of Law at the University of Law in 2023. She joined Timms in September 2022 as a Conveyancing Assistant at the Burton Office, having previous experience in this area. Sophie secured a training contract with Timms which commenced in March 2024 and she is due to qualify as a Solicitor in September 2025.

Sophie’s first seat is within the Wills and Probate Department at the Swadlincote Office where she is being mentored by Charlotte Day. She finds she is really enjoying working closely with the team on matters such as Wills, Powers of Attorney, Asset Protection, Probate and Estate Administration.

In her spare time, Sophie loves to explore the Peaks with her dogs Reggie and Oakley. She also enjoys travel and attending spin classes.

Julie has been at Timms for 30 years and has worked within the Wills and Probate team for the last 27 years. She has also spent time working in the family and civil litigation departments.

Having been the longest serving secretary in the team, Julie now works as a Probate Assistant supporting her colleagues with her vast knowledge and experience and working to progress probate matters. Julie is particularly interested in taxable estates and can frequently be found perusing the HMRC website.

Julie completed the STEP foundation certificate for England and Wales in Trusts and Estates in 2006.

Outside of the office, Julie enjoys spending time with her family, particularly her young grandchildren. She is a keen gardener and loves to spend time on her allotment, which she has worked on for over 20 years.

Matt has recently started his new role in the Wills and Probate department as a Paralegal and is studying the Legal Practice Course and Masters part time at the weekend. Matt is looking forward to learning and gaining useful skills from our experienced Wills and Probate team.

Outside of work, Matt is a passionate Arsenal fan and tries to attend as many games as possible. Matt also enjoys playing tennis and football when he has the spare time.

Natasha specialises in all aspects of Personal Injury law, including accidents at work, industrial disease, road traffic accidents and public liability accidents.

She is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and has worked in Personal Injury since 2008.

Natasha advises and supports clients who have suffered with a broad range of injuries from multiple fractures to catastrophic and life changing injuries including brain injury and loss of limbs.

She also successfully represents clients who have suffered with industrial illness such as vibration white finger, asbestos related disease and noise induced hearing loss.

She is sensitive and supportive in her approach and provides practical advice to her clients who are going through a very difficult time in their lives.

Natasha has recently secured a seven-figure settlement for a client who suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury.

Based in the Derby office, Natasha covers all the Midland’s area and beyond.

After studying hard, she first qualified as a legal executive then as a solicitor. Alicia studied at De Montfort University in Leicester.

Alicia lives locally in the Swadlincote area with her partner and young daughter.

When Alicia is not working she enjoys reading, relaxing and visiting nice pubs for a meal. She is very keen on the outdoors and loves walking in Derbyshire and the Lake District. She also enjoys spending time with her family.

Haley joined Timms in January 2020 from a reputable defendant based East Midlands firm where she had worked for several years.

Working within the Personal Injury Department, Haley assists Natasha Layton in representing claimants from pre-action to final hearings.

She has over 5 years’ experience in Civil Litigation including: Personal Injury (Employer Liability, Public Liability and Motor Claims) and Debt Recovery. Haley is currently completing her CILEx qualifications with a view to qualifying as a Chartered Legal Executive in the near future.

Fiona is the Managing Partner of Timms and splits her time between this role and working in the Family team. She is a member of the Children Panel and also an Accredited Specialist in the organisation ‘Resolution’ for family lawyers.

Fiona enjoys dealing with her own advocacy and undertaking more complex financial cases. She likes to deal with a blend of work in her case load involving divorce, financial cases, injunctions, private law children matters and childcare.

Fiona has also trained as a Collaborative Lawyer bringing a new approach to resolution of disputes when families break down.

In her spare time, Fiona enjoys walking and taking on new challenges, the latest being her abseil off the top of Derby Cathedral to raise funds for Rainbows Children's Hospice.

Adrian is a Solicitor and Family Mediator who has worked exclusively in family law for almost thirty years.

His area of practice focusses on more complex and medium to high net worth financial cases where he has significant experience in representing individuals or their spouses or partners from commercial, engineering and medical sectors and entrepreneurs.

Jo has been at Timms for over 15 years, having qualified as a solicitor at our Swadlincote Office in 1993. From 2001 she worked for a commercially minded Tamworth firm and was pleased to re-join Timms in the Family Team in April 2010.

Jo is a member of the Law Society Children Panel and acts for parents, children and others in Local Authority care cases, special guardianship proceedings and adoption. She is highly skilled in dealing sensitively with parents with mental health issues or learning difficulties and with young parents. She is experienced in advising carers and extended family in respect of special guardianship.

Jo and her family enjoy long walks with their Collie cross. She loves the coast and countryside. Her interests include local politics and she is an honorary alderman of East Staffordshire.

Jessica is a solicitor in the Family Team who undertakes primarily Private Law Family work. Jessica’s experience includes complex cases relating to arrangements for the care of children as well as divorce and financial matters for both married and unmarried couples.

She has worked at Timms in a number of roles. Jessica began working for the firm in archiving and on reception before working in the Residential Conveyancing Team. In April 2017, Jessica became a paralegal in the Family Department’s Care Team and found a love of Family Law. Jessica’s knowledge of property law is often helpful when dealing with cases where there are arrangements for properties to consider.

Jessica qualified as a solicitor in 2020 and was awarded Derby and District Law Society’s Junior Lawyer of the Year 2022.

After completing the Timms Associate Programme, she became an Associate Solicitor in October 2022.

In her spare time, Jessica enjoys watching LOTS of films, whether brand new or preferably black and white and very very old.

Melissa joined the Childcare team at Timms in May 2021. Prior to joining the team, Melissa was a Childcare solicitor at a local authority for over six years whereby she also completed her training contract. She knew from an early stage that she had a keen interest in Childcare Law and was dedicated to pursuing a career in this field.

Melissa regularly represents parents and family members at the pre-proceedings stage through to Court proceedings. Alongside work, Melissa also studied for her Masters in Legal Practice at Staffordshire University on a part-time basis which she was awarded in 2018. Melissa is committed, approachable and works hard to achieve the best outcome for her clients whilst making sure they feel supported throughout.

Outside of work, Melissa enjoys playing netball, shopping, visiting new countries/ cities, watching the latest Netflix series, and anything food related!

Jessica is a Solicitor in our Childcare team, who joined us in February 2024. Prior to joining Timms, Jessica worked locally in all aspects of family law, which led her to developing a keen interest in Care Proceedings.

Jessica qualified as a Solicitor in 2019, and has a wealth of experience representing children, parents, and other family members throughout Care Proceedings. Her work also includes, adoption matters, advising Special Guardians and matters involving deprivation of liberty. Jessica was awarded Derby and District Law Society Junior Lawyer of the Year 2023.

Jessica is a member of the Law Society Children and Family law panels, and is therefore, able to take on Guardian instructions in family law proceedings, both private and public law. She is also a Qualified Legal Representative, developing considerable advocacy experience in court.

Jessica is also a Mental Health First Aider, which gives her an advantage both in the workplace as well as during her daily work with individuals who require mental health support.

In her spare time, Jessica likes to spend time with friends and family, travelling and reading.

In 2016 Lauren obtained her LLB with honours in Criminology from Sheffield Hallam University and then completed her Legal Practice Course, on a part-time basis over two years, whilst working as a Paralegal in Commercial Litigation. In 2019 Lauren commenced her Training Contract and qualified as a Solicitor in 2021. During her Training Contract Lauren discovered her passion is for Family Law and Child Care.

Lauren joined Timms in June 2022 as a Newly Qualified Solicitor in the Child Care department in Burton. Lauren is being supported by the experienced Child Care team at Timms as she develops her career, advising and supporting parents within Public Law proceedings.

In her spare time, Lauren enjoys spending time with her little boy and watching sports, in particular local South Derbyshire football team Gresley Rovers. Lauren also enjoys watching live music and travelling. In 2018, Lauren went solo backpacking around Thailand!

Leonnie qualified as a solicitor in December 2022 and works in our private family law team alongside Fiona, Adrian and Jessica.

Leonnie joined Timms in July 2018 and supported the family team as a paralegal in the family department before commencing her training contract with the firm in June 2021. Leonnie also worked closely with the Wills & Probate team and our Conveyancing team during her training contract and has transferable knowledge which is helpful in family matters, particularly divorce and finances.

She obtained her Undergraduate Law Degree, with honours, at the University of Derby in 2018 and went on to complete the Legal Practice Course and Master’s Degree in 2020, on a part time basis, from Nottingham Trent University; all the while supporting the Care team at both our Burton and Derby offices.

Leonnie is local to both our Swadlincote and Burton office and likes working with, supporting and getting to know clients.

In her spare time, Leonnie particularly enjoys going to the theatre, travelling and spending time with her family, friends and two cavapoo pups.

Emily joined the Conveyancing team in April 2022 and is based in our Derby office. She obtained her law degree from the University of Derby in 2021 before going on to study the LPC LLM full time at the University of Derby. She is due to complete in summer 2023.

Emily deals with quotes and new business as well as supporting the Derby team with administrative duties within the conveyancing department. Emily endeavours to provide efficient and friendly service for all new and existing clients.

Whilst studying for the LPC, Emily worked in various roles providing her with vast experience in community, organisational and legal work. Emily’s previous experience in Wills, Probate and Estates often provides a further wealth of knowledge in regards to new enquiries and conveyancing matters.

In her spare time Emily enjoys long road trips, music concerts and festivals, travelling with her friends and a good TV series.

Michaela is a Senior Paralegal in our Care Team, having joined Timms in 2002 as a Legal Secretary. Michaela has worked in all of our offices in different areas of law but has finally taken base in the Care team in her hometown of Swadlincote.

Michaela supports Dee and the team in representing Guardians and Parents in Public Law Care Proceedings. Michaela enjoys the variety of challenges that Care Proceedings bring, particularly when dealing with urgent matters and the more complex cases.

Outside of the office, when not running around after her two children, she enjoys dining out, wine tasting and spending time with her extended family. If time allows Michaela enjoys an outdoor run and more recently Pilates and Meditation.

Claire joined Timms in July 2002 working initially within the Civil Litigation department but since 2003 she has worked solely in the Childcare area of law.

Claire is one of our more senior paralegals in the Care team and currently works closely with the Managing Partner, Fiona Moffat.

Claire has experience of working with both Court appointed Guardians and parents who are involved in
Care Proceedings brought by Local Authorities and issued by the Court.

Claire has completed and passed her CILEx Level 3 law qualification which she did whilst working at Timms.

Outside of work, Claire enjoys being a “soccer mum” to her two sons who keep her social life busy by playing football teams all over the country.

Sharon joined Timms in January 2007 as a Legal Secretary in the Family Department, firstly working in Private Family Law and quickly moving to join the Care Team.

Sharon, as a Senior Paralegal, supports Jo and the Care Team in representing Guardians and Parents in Public Law Care Proceedings. This is a challenging role that ‘keeps you on your toes’. Sharon also enjoys sharing her experience and knowledge with new colleagues as they join the team.

Outside of the office Sharon is a committee member and volunteer for the Burton Child Contact Centre. She also enjoys theatre trips, road trips, cruising and dining out.

Katie studied Law at Sheffield Hallam University, graduating with Honours in 2009. She was admitted as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives in August 2018 while working at Timms.

Katie has worked within the Conveyancing Department at Timms since 2012, having started as a legal secretary. Katie prides herself on providing an excellent service to her clients, making the process as seamless as possible, believing that effective communication is key.

She is now based at the Burton office but oversees the Conveyancing team over all four of our offices. Having grown up in the area, Katie has excellent local knowledge and enjoys working with and getting to know her clients in the East Midlands and the surrounding areas.

Deepa studied Law & Psychology at De Montfort University graduating in 2000 and qualified as a solicitor in 2005. Deepa joined Timms in December 2023 based in our Derby office.

Deepa specialises in commercial property advising clients on a variety of commercial property matters. These include advising landlord and tenants on the grant or renewal of business leases together with disposal and assignments of leases. She also handles sale and purchases of business assets.

Deepa enjoys working out at the gym, hot yoga and walking. When she is not exercising, she enjoys spending time with her family.

Connor joined Timms in January 2022. He obtained his Law Degree from the University of Derby in 2019 before going on to complete the LPC Part-time at the University of Derby in 2021. Whilst studying for his LPC, Connor worked as a Paralegal. Having completed seats in Conveyancing, Wills & Probate and Private Family, he qualified as a Property Solicitor in January 2024.

Based at our Ashby office, Connor deals with all aspects of Residential Conveyancing, including freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, transfers of equity, adverse possession applications and voluntary first registrations.

Connor is committed to providing excellent client service, straightforward legal advice and helping his clients achieve their desired outcome.

Connor is a lifetime supporter of Derby County and is currently a season ticket holder for the Rams. He also enjoys going to the gym, walking in the Peak District and watching anything Marvel related.

Leah joined Timms in November 2021 where she started as a paralegal in the family team. Leah has since secured a training contract with Timms and is set to qualify as a Solicitor in March 2025. Before joining Timms, Leah graduated from university with a first class law degree and is currently studying part time for the Legal Practice Course (LPC) and a Masters in Law (LLM), she is set to complete her postgraduate studies in July 2024.

Leah’s second seat of her training contract is within the Conveyancing department, which she is enjoying thoroughly. Leah is being supported and mentored by Katie Holmes and the highly experienced team around her.

In her spare time, Leah loves cooking and baking and also spending time with her family and friends. When she can, Leah loves travelling to new places and trying the local food. She also loves spending time and going on long walks with her dog.

Natasha specialises in all aspects of Personal Injury law, including accidents at work, industrial disease, road traffic accidents and public liability accidents.

She is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and has worked in Personal Injury since 2008.

Natasha advises and supports clients who have suffered with a broad range of injuries from multiple fractures to catastrophic and life changing injuries including brain injury and loss of limbs.

She also successfully represents clients who have suffered with industrial illness such as vibration white finger, asbestos related disease and noise induced hearing loss.

She is sensitive and supportive in her approach and provides practical advice to her clients who are going through a very difficult time in their lives.

Natasha has recently secured a seven-figure settlement for a client who suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury.

Based in the Derby office, Natasha covers all the Midland’s area and beyond.

Outside of work Natasha enjoys spending time with her family and friends and keeps fit by attending dance classes. She also enjoys visiting different countries, particularly on city breaks.

Alicia joined Timms' Personal Injury & Clinical Negligence Department in November 2000 as a trainee Legal Executive, having previously worked as a legal secretary. After studying hard, she first qualified as a legal executive then as a solicitor. Alicia studied at De Montfort University in Leicester.

Alicia lives locally in the Swadlincote area with her partner and young daughter.

When Alicia is not working she enjoys reading, relaxing and visiting nice pubs for a meal. She is very keen on the outdoors and loves walking in Derbyshire and the Lake District. She also enjoys spending time with her family.

Haley joined Timms in January 2020 from a reputable defendant based East Midlands firm where she had worked for several years.

Working within the Personal Injury Department, Haley assists Natasha Layton in representing claimants from pre-action to final hearings.

She has over 5 years’ experience in Civil Litigation including: Personal Injury (Employer Liability, Public Liability and Motor Claims) and Debt Recovery. Haley is currently completing her CILEx qualifications with a view to qualifying as a Chartered Legal Executive in the near future.

Outside of work, Haley enjoys spending time with her husband and young daughter as well as travelling and experiencing new places - especially when it involves delicious food

Sharon, a CIM Marketing Professional, joined Timms in March 2014 following a career within the automotive and professional services sectors.

With many years hands on and management experience in marketing strategy and marketing communications, she is a stickler for detail and loves to work with branding.

Responsible for creating and implementing the firms marketing strategy, event management, business development, marketing communications, website management and social media marketing, networking and statistical analysis, Sharon supports all members of the Timms team.

Always one to rise to a challenge, outside work Sharon is often found training for her next event whether that be running, cycling, swimming or more recently she has developed a love of triathlons!

Ali joined Timms in early 2016 having graduated with a BA Hons in Accounting and spending 6 years at a reputable firm as Head of Finance.

Having an interest at a very early age with IT, Ali further developed his skills whilst working in the legal sector and brought that experience to Timms. Now the Systems Manager, he heads Finance and IT and is also a member of The Institute of Legal Finance and Management (ILFM)

Ali’s great passion is sport, especially football and Manchester United, he is also a follower of his home town Stoke City. A keen traveller and an interest in culture, he has visited many countries all over the world. In his spare time Ali attends the gym and enjoys watching various TV shows.
