Renata qualified as a Solicitor in 2002 and joined Timms in June 2016, having spent the last 5 years working at the University of Derby in an in-house role.

Renata has extensive experience in all areas of Civil Litigation, Commercial Litigation and Employment Law including Contract Disputes, Debt Recovery, Professional Negligence, Property Dispute Resolution, Leases and Licences for Landlords and Tenants, Contentious Probate and Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR). She has a vast understanding and experience drafting and negotiating Commercial Contacts including construction contracts.

Renata has significant experience in dealing with personal injury claims and has had great success in pursuing claims arising from road traffic accidents, accidents at work and accident which have occurred in public places and also has experience in pursuing claims against the CICA. She has experience in dealing with high value personal injury claims and prides herself on offering practical advice and delivering the best possible outcome for the clients.

Renata is a friendly, knowledgeable advocate who is able to offer specialist advice to both individuals and companies.

Matt is a Solicitor in our Commercial Property department.

Principally based in our Ashby and Derby offices, he qualified in 2012 and joined the firm in 2015, having previously worked in Leicester and Northampton.

Matt has wide experience of all aspects of commercial property; including freehold and leasehold acquisitions and disposals, commercial developments, property finance and pension related matters - acting for both seller and buyer and landlord and tenant. He also has experience in dealing with conditional contracts, options and overage arrangements and all landlord and tenant transactions including lease renewals, surrenders, assignments, sublets and licences.

While Matt’s focus is on commercial property he also has considerable experience in residential conveyancing.

Darren joined Timms in 2010 and brings with him over twenty years experience in the Private Client field, including trusts and taxation. He is a member of both Solicitors for the Elderly and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

Darren is a Notary Public, which is the oldest legal profession in the UK, and whose members are appointed by the Archbishop of Canterbury. As a Notary Darren can assist in the preparation of documents for use internationally.

Darren is married with two teenage children and, when he has time, enjoys being outdoors, which usually involves walking in the Peak District, rock climbing or riding his classic Italian motorcycle.

Sara has been at Timms for over 20 years and is one of the longest serving members of staff.

Sara commenced her working life at the CAB on a voluntary basis, before moving to work at a Derby firm of solicitors as a legal secretary and then finally joining Timms, initially as a legal secretary.

Whilst working as a secretary, Sara undertook the ILEX qualification via a correspondence course and qualified as a Member of the Institute of Legal Executives in June 1996, leading to admission as a Fellow of the Institute in June 1998. Sara practiced in other areas of law before settling in the Non Contentious, Wills & Probate department in 2000, where she finally found her niche and very much enjoys this area of work.

Sara enjoys good conversation (as most people are aware!) and swimming.

Keith joined the Probate Department at Timms in 2003. He qualified as a Solicitor in 1999 having spent 10 years in the NHS as a Registered Nurse specialising in Coronary Care and Intensive Care. He completed a full time law degree and Legal Practice Course whilst working in the NHS and commenced a training contract with Timms in 1997.

Since qualifying Keith has worked for a large City firm specialising in medical defence, inquests, consent matters and other medico-legal issues. He returned to Timms in 2003 when the opportunity to work locally offered more time to spend with his young family.
Keith has now worked in Probate at Timms for over six years. Although he enjoys working with clients of all ages he finds care of the elderly work particularly satisfying especially when capacity issues are involved.

With two young children and a wife who is a local GP, free time is at a premium. Keith enjoys spending time at home with his family when the demands of his children’s bulging social diaries allow it.

After graduating from Cardiff University with her law degree, Amy completed her LPC at Sheffield University in 2008.

Amy went on to work as a paralegal in family law and obtained a training contract specialising in this field. As part of her training she was sent to another firm to do a seat in Wills and Probate, after enjoying it so much she returned to the same firm after completing her training in August 2012. Having spent two years with this firm she moved to join the team at Timms.

Originally from Northern Ireland, Amy is now married and enjoys walking, reading, floristry, travel and films. She also volunteers for the Cinnamon Trust, a charity for the elderly and their pets.

Matt is a solicitor with several years of experience. He initially took a post in a busy residential conveyancing team in the West Midlands before deciding his passion lay in drafting wills and dealing with estates. In addition to expanding his Wills & Probate experience, Matt committed to further studying and, in 2014, qualified as a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). STEP is a highly respected qualification and signifies an interest and expertise in this area of work giving clients more confidence.

Laura joined Timms in November 2016 having qualified as a solicitor in 2006.

Laura has worked for the past ten years at a firm of solicitors in Derby, advising various clients on all aspects of private client law.

Laura specialises in drafting wills and powers of attorney. She also advises upon the administration of estates and has a lot of experience in the administration of trusts. Laura particularly enjoys advising upon inheritance tax planning. She has experience of managing Court of Protection matters for clients, including advising upon the appointment of Deputies.

Outside of work Laura is married with two young sons. She enjoys spending time with her young family and in particular enjoying time outdoors in local parks and the Peak District.

Alicia joined Timms' Personal Injury & Clinical Negligence Department in November 2000 as a trainee Legal Executive, having previously worked as a legal secretary. After studying hard, she first qualified as a legal executive then as a solicitor. Alicia studied at De Montfort University in Leicester.

Alicia lives locally in the Swadlincote area with her young daughter, husband and 2 dogs.

When Alicia is not working she enjoys reading, relaxing and visiting nice pubs for a meal. She is very keen on the outdoors and loves walking in Derbyshire and the Lake District. She also enjoys spending time with her family.

David has been practising as a medical malpractice lawyer for over 20 years and is the Head of our Clinical Negligence Department.

David works on predominantly high value cases and is a member of the Law Society's Clinical Negligence Panel and is therefore accredited by them to pursue medical negligence compensation.

David strives to provide clients with a bespoke, personal service, dealing with cases personally throughout, ensuring claims are dealt with speedily and efficiently from start to finish.

David lives locally and is married with three young children. In his spare time David is also interested in news and current affairs, history and enjoys attending the gym.

Naomi qualified as a Solicitor in 1993. She has worked for Timms since 2001 when she rejoined the Firm as a Partner and Head of the Family Department.

Naomi has extensive experience in all areas of Family Law having worked in both Private Practice and Local Authority settings. By virtue of her Law Society Children Panel membership, Naomi is able to offer specialist advice to parents, family members and children in Care proceedings as well as advising in all other aspects of family law.

Naomi is an active member of the local Family Justice Board.

As Head of Department, Naomi is also responsible for the smooth running of the whole department across all 4 offices, 8 solicitors and legal executives and their support staff.

Naomi is a member of her local gym and enjoys running and cycling. She has completed a half Ironman, several marathons and numerous half marathons. On 5th June 2016, Naomi captained the Timms corporate team in the Derby Ramathon when the team conquered the 13.1 mile course around Derby. Timms sponsored the mini event for the first time raising money for Rainbows Children's Hospice. More sporting challenges are to follow!!

Fiona is the Managing Partner of Timms and splits her time between this role and working in the Family team. She is a member of the Children Panel and also an Accredited Specialist in the organisation ‘Resolution’ for family lawyers.

Fiona enjoys dealing with her own advocacy and undertaking more complex financial cases. She likes to deal with a blend of work in her case load involving divorce, financial cases, injunctions, private law children matters and childcare.

Fiona has also trained as a Collaborative Lawyer bringing a new approach to resolution of disputes when families break down.

In her spare time, Fiona enjoys walking and taking on new challenges, the latest being her abseil off the top of Derby Cathedral to raise funds for Rainbows Children's Hospice.

Jason provides advice with regards to all areas of family law and enjoys having a varied caseload. He has extensive experience of representing clients with regards to matters involving divorce, financial cases, injunctions, private law children matters and children.

Jason is a member of Resolution and is also a member of the Law Society's Children Panel meaning that he can provide specialist advice to both children and parents in care proceedings.

In his spare time, Jason is a keen sportsman and enjoys football and is a member of the local running club. He has previously completed the Great North Run in aid of Macmillan and has also tackled numerous obstacle and off road events. Jason is also a keen snowboarder.

Alison qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2003 and has spent most of her career working in the Ashby and Swadlincote area.

Alison joined the Timms Family team in September 2016 and specialises in all areas of family law including divorce, cohabitation and civil partnerships, finances, pre and post nuptial agreements, separation agreements and private law children matters. She is an Accredited Specialist with Resolution, an organisation for family lawyers that promotes a non-confrontational approach to family law problems.

Alison obtained a Masters degree in agricultural law and is experienced in working with clients from a farming background.

Jo has been at Timms for over 15 years, having qualified as a solicitor at our Swadlincote Office in 1993. From 2001 she worked for a commercially minded Tamworth firm and was pleased to re-join Timms in the Family Team in April 2010.

Jo is a member of the Law Society Children Panel and acts for parents, children and others in Local Authority care cases, special guardianship proceedings and adoption. She is highly skilled in dealing sensitively with parents with mental health issues or learning difficulties and with young parents. She is experienced in advising carers and extended family in respect of special guardianship.

Jo lives locally with her family. She is involved in the school, on the PTA and as a governor. Her interests include local politics and she is an honorary alderman of East Staffordshire.

Steven is an experienced family lawyer, having qualified as a Solicitor in 1990. He has worked exclusively in the area of Family Law since then at a number of law firms in the East and West Midlands. Steven was delighted to join the busy Family Law team at Timms Solicitors in May 2017.

Steven specialises in divorce, financial and property disputes (for married, unmarried and same sex couples), private law children disputes, domestic violence injunctions, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, separation and cohabitation agreements, and is a skilled and enthusiastic Court advocate. Steven has acquired excellent negotiating skills and is committed to resolving family disputes by adopting a practical and realistic approach.

When not at work, Steven is a committed amateur thespian, having acted in or directed over 40 plays and musicals in the Loughborough area. Steven is a supporter of Leicester City Football Club and is a keen, but not particularly talented, golfer.

Jessica joined the family department as a paralegal in April 2017. In July 2017, she was awarded a commendation in the law conversion course at Nottingham Law School, which she completed whilst working at Timms. In September, she will be embarking on the Legal Practice Course and continuing her studies alongside work and training in the Family team working towards qualification as a Solicitor.

Jessica currently assists other fee-earners in the department as well as taking on her own matters. She attends Pre-Proceedings meetings with Clients whose families are involved with social services, and works on private law matters including contact, divorce proceedings and change of name deeds.

In her spare time, Jessica enjoys tap-dancing, old movies, and putting her MA in Art History to good use at galleries, museums and exhibition spaces.

Lisa joined Timms in February 2016 and brings with her over 10 years experience in Residential Conveyancing.

Karen joined Timms 7 years ago after working within the retail sector of HR for many years, and has a wide skill base and genuine hands on experience of working with others.

Karen started her working life training and qualifying as a nurse, working in both the public and private sectors which included working in Iran, which was stopped abruptly by the revolution in 1978. She also qualified as an Occupational Health Nurse and councillor all of which can come in very useful within the generalist scope of HR.

Karen says HR is always different, it’s rewarding and challenging, understanding and working along side the team is what makes Timms the firm it is. We are renowned for our professionalism, friendliness and working together.

In her spare time Karen loves spending time with her family and friends, enjoys a good book and tries to attend the gym a few times a week. In her moments of madness has completed an abseil down the QMC and zip wired across the river Trent, all in the name of charity.

Sharon, a CIM Marketing Professional, joined Timms in March 2014 following a career within the automotive and professional services sectors.

With many years hands on and management experience in marketing strategy and marketing communications, she is a stickler for detail and loves to work with branding.

Responsible for creating and implementing the firms marketing strategy, event management, business development, marketing communications, website management and social media marketing, networking and statistical analysis, Sharon supports all members of the Timms team.

Always one to rise to a challenge, outside work Sharon is often found training for her next event whether that be running, cycling, swimming or more recently she has developed a love of triathlons!

Ali joined Timms in early 2016 having graduated with a BA Hons in accounting and spending 6 years at a reputable firm as Head of Finance.

Having an interest at a very early age with IT, Ali further developed his skills whilst working in the legal sector and brought that experience to Timms. Now the Systems Manager, he heads Finance and IT and is also a member of The Institute of Legal Finance and Management (ILFM)

Ali’s great passion is sport, especially football and Manchester United, he is also a follower of his home town Stoke City. A keen traveller and an interest in culture, he has visited many countries all over the world. In his spare time Ali attends the gym and enjoys watching various TV shows.
