Covid-19 & Family Law – Frequently Asked Questions

During the Covid-19 pandemic, we have put together some of the most frequently asked questions relating to Family Law.  The Timms Solicitors Family Law team continue to work and are here to help….

Q) I am an existing client, are you still working? How can I contact you?

Yes, we are still working. We will continue to provide you with the same professional service. Please make it easier for us to do this by sending us correspondence by email where possible. You can still call our offices too. Our telephone numbers remain the same and we have a freephone number 0800 011 6666. We will reply as quickly as we can. We can arrange telephone appointments if that is more convenient.

Q) Can I come in for a meeting?

Yes, we are able to make appointments for face to face meetings. It is essential that you make an appointment as we are unable to see anyone that speculatively arrives at any of our offices. We are happy to arrange telephone or video appointments and you can also contact us via our email at legal@timms-law.com.

Q) I have got papers that need returning to the office, can I drop them off?

You are welcome to post any papers through our letterbox. Post is collected and forwarded to your lawyer as often as it would be in ordinary circumstances.

Q) I would like to talk to someone about divorce/ separation/ children, what should I do?

We are happy to take on new clients and do offer a fixed fee appointment to provide you with initial general advice and assistance and to assess your case. Please telephone our office on 0800 011 6666 and ask to speak to a member of the family team, specifying which office is most convenient.

Q) How much is a divorce?

We offer fixed fees for straight forward undefended divorces (and for some other types of work), whether you are the petitioner or the respondent. Please note that these fees only cover work for the divorce itself. It does not cover any costs relating to finances or children issues. We do offer initial fixed fee appointments to assess your case and to provide you with general advice and discuss a way forward for these matters. Further information can be found here on our Family Law Homepage.
