Claiming After an Accident at Work

Injuries often leave us unable to pay our bills and struggling to get back to work

If you have been injured as the result of an accident whilst at work, then you could be entitled to claim compensation in respect of your injuries.

Your employer must, by law, keep you safe whilst you are at work and doing your job. There are numerous laws which govern not only the safety of your workplace, but also the training you must receive, the equipment you should use to carry out your job and the way in which you work.

If you are involved in an accident at work, speak to one of our specialist lawyers as soon as possible. You could be entitled to make a claim for compensation and our specialist personal injury lawyers are there to make the claim as stress free as possible for you.

There are two types of damages you may be able to claim:

1. General Damages – This is quantified by obtaining reports from Medical Experts on your injuries. It also includes your loss of enjoyment of your life and the impact the injury has had on your day to day living.

2. Special Damages – These are losses and expenses that you may incur as a result of the accident, which must be evidenced by receipts, such as:

  • Loss of earnings
  • Loss of holiday costs and loss of enjoyment
  • Medical treatment, prescriptions and other medication including physio, chiropractic or osteopath treatment, hire of crutches etc
  • Travel expenses for seeing your GP, Consultant or to attend other medical appointments
  • Wasted subscriptions e.g. Gym membership
  • Insurance excess
  • Care provided by professionals or family and friends including personal hygiene, shopping, cleaning, gardening or laundry
  • Damage to property or clothin

Following a nasty accident I was referred to Timms who have given me an excellent service. I was kept informed of everything, didn’t have to worry at all about how it was proceeding and could talk to Timms about any aspect of my claim at my convenience. I was very pleased with my settlement of £820,000.
After my Accident at work, Timms came to see me at home and immediately understood my pain and distress. From the outset Timms have been very caring and understanding, the case has been handled in a quick and efficient manner I was extremely pleased with the service.
Thank you for your efforts over these past years, your patience & understanding towards not just to my physical restrictions, but my mental health has also been appreciated.
I can’t fault how committed Natasha was from the get-go. She listened to me and advised me accordingly which I am very grateful for. She has got myself the best outcome possible and I would recommend her services to anyone who needs them.
