Timms Solicitors Join The Ram Trail Charge

Timms Solicitors have pledged support for the innovative Derby Ram Trail which will create a walking tour of the city centre this summer by becoming a sponsor.

Timms, who have been established since 1892, have sponsored one of 30 larger-then-life ram sculptures.

Each sculpture is currently being decorated by a different artist and will create a colourful spectacle across the city centre for visitors and residents alike to enjoy.

The Derby Ram Trail is a free art sculpture trail organised by Derby Museums, together with Wild in Art and the Cathedral Quarter Business Improvement District and will be live in Derby for twelve weeks between May 27 – August 22.

At the end of the summer all the rams will be auctioned off to raise funds for Derby Museums’ Endowment Campaign, helping to secure the future of Derby Museums for everyone for years to come. Every pound raised at the auction will be matched pound for pound by a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Timms Managing Partner Fiona Moffat said: “As a law firm that has been rooted in the city and surrounding area for more than 125 years, we are proud to be supporting the local community where our staff and clients live and work.

“Similar sculpture trails have increased community engagement, boosted footfall, increased civic pride and stimulated the local economy.

“As well as sponsoring our own ram, we are therefore looking forward to engaging with all the other businesses across the Cathedral Quarter to maximise the impact that the trail will have on the historic and cultural heart of the city centre.”

The ram sculpture is based on the mythical Derby ram from the 18th Century song, which according to legend was ten yards high, with enormous horns and a huge flowing fleece.

The design for the Timms’ ram is a closely guarded secret at the moment but will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
