Jessica originally joined Timms in 2014 and has since worked tirelessly to hone her skills and in doing so has unearthed a love for Family Law. We are very excited to have Jess on board in this capacity and we're very much looking forward to seeing what her future holds.

All about Jess...

I began working at Timms full time in February 2014 as a receptionist at our Burton office. Although I had worked at Timms in archiving and on reception in school holidays since I was around 16 years old.

Following on from that I started to work in the Conveyancing Department handling quotes for new work and setting up files. I then worked my way from there to working on the completed Conveyancing files, getting newly transferred properties registered with the Land Registry and closing the files down.

It was during the time in post-completion that I felt I should re-train and try to qualify either as a legal executive or a solicitor.

Through a lot of research, it seemed that either way, the thing to do was to enrol in a part-time law conversion course so that I could continue to earn money whilst I learnt the basics.

After completing that course at Nottingham Trent University, moving on to their Legal Practice Course seemed like the next natural step and I am due to finish that Course in Summer 2019.

Next steps...

Now, as any law student will tell you, the studying is not the real battle; the Training Contract is the golden ticket. The demand for Training Contracts far exceeds the supply and they are much sought after.

I have been very lucky that Timms have put their faith in me, and the skills they have already instilled in me, and that they and have taken me on as their first trainee in around ten years!

I'm really excited to put my studies into practice and to formalise the on-the-job training I started here so many years ago.

I am very grateful for the opportunity and really pleased that I get to be the first in what I hope will be a line of successful Trainees for Timms. It shows a real willingness to invest in the future of the firm and I am so happy to be part of it.
