Celebrity Blended Families

Following a recent Vogue post on Instagram (Ask and you shall receive! While answering questions on Instagram this week Gwyneth Paltrow was prompted to share a photo with Dakota… | Instagram ), I was intrigued about Gwyneth Paltrow, the queen of ‘conscious uncoupling.’

Gwyneth has recently posted a picture of her and the current girlfriend of her former husband, Chris Martin holding hands. It seemed an interesting thing to consider the relationship between Gwyneth Paltrow and Dakota Johnson in the circumstances. Making friends with an ex-partner’s current partner is a hard thing to do. However, often it can lead to more positive co-parenting relationships. Opinions seem to be divided as to whether Gwyneth and Dakota look like they are both totally comfortable with the situation. However, what seems clear is that they are both happy to present a united front for Apple, the daughter of Paltrow and Martin, who of course also spends time with Johnson.

Children’s Top Tips For Parents

The local Family Young People’s Justice Board have released a resource for blended families about top tips for parents who separate: children’s top tips for parents.

Children who have been involved in the court process have helped to create these tips and number 2 on the list is: ‘I can have a relationship with the partner of my other parent without this changing my love for you.’

These types of more amicable relationships between parents and carers clearly impact young people and is important to them. We always try to reduce the animosity between people and it is intriguing that in Hollywood some appear to be doing the same thing.

There are of course some horror stories and the Hollywood parents we don’t hear about, but it seems positive to see an example of this co-parenting relationship working following separation. I may not always be on board with the ‘goop’ way of doing things but in this case, its great to see.
