We all know how important it is to make a Will and often people just don’t get around to it…Now there is no excuse!
Cancer Research UK have offered a Free Will Service for over 55s for many years and now they are opening it up to people aged 18 and over.
Timms have been supporting the Cancer Research Free Will Service for over 22 years, giving advice to those wishing to make or update their Wills, and we will continue do so. The scheme allows you to make a ‘simple’ Will at no cost. During the time that the scheme has been running at Timms, our clients have chosen to leave more than an amazing £6.6m to Cancer Research UK in their Wills! Although, there is no obligation to leave a legacy to the charity.
Cancer Research UK have a vision to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. In the 1970’s less than a quarter of people with cancer survived, now half will. Cancer Research UK aim to accelerate this progress and see three-quarters of people surviving cancer in the next 20 years.
Cancer Research Free Will Service
Cancer Research UK does not receive government funding and relies on gifts and donations, with over a third of its research into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer being funded through legacies in people’s Wills. Last year alone, gifts in Wills funded £189m of research.
Those choosing to make a donation in their Wills under the Free Will service, can ‘ear-mark’ their legacy for research into a specific cancer type or within a specific local area if they so wish.
The scheme is a good opportunity to not only ensure that your own affairs are in order and that your wishes will be carried out after your death, but also to contribute to a great cause. Now that the chance to make a Will free of charge and to help Cancer Research UK by leaving a legacy gift has been opened up to everyone over the age of eighteen, so there is no excuse not to make a Will!
If you would like to make an appointment to discuss making a Will under the scheme, please feel free to call the team on freephone 0800 011 6666.
Please be aware that if your instructions do not come under the definition of a ‘simple’ Will, there may be a fee to pay.
