Childcare Solicitor Leonnie Watson has passed the Law Society Children’s Law Accreditation.

This prestigious achievement is a major career milestone for Leonnie and formally recognises her expert knowledge, skill, experience and practice in family court matters.

Leonnie obtained her undergraduate Law degree, with honours, at the University of Derby in 2018. In 2020, she went on to complete the Legal Practice Course and master’s degree on a part-time basis from Nottingham Trent University whilst working at Timms and supporting the Care team at the Burton and Derby office.

Timms’s Managing Partner, Fiona Moffat, said: “We are very excited to celebrate Leonnie’s achievement, and we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate her on her recent exam results.

“Leonnie is always fully committed and her work in this field is crucial in supporting families in this area.

“Leonnie has shown real determination in her studies, and it is wonderful to see the next generation of talent coming up through the business.”

Leonnie, who is based between the Derby, Swadlincote and Burton offices, joined Timms in 2018 as a Family Law Paralegal and gained a training contract in 2021. One year later, she qualified as a solicitor and immediately developed a love for family law work.

Today, Leonnie’s primary focus is on public law matters, representing parents at the pre-proceedings stage through to Court proceedings where there is a local authority involved.

She said: “Working to achieve the Law Society Children’s Law Accreditation was the next step for me and I am really pleased to pass this exam.

“It means I will be able to use my expertise as a family law solicitor to deal with difficult family issues like contact, residence and other parental rights issues.

“I would like to thank everyone at Timms for their ongoing support and I am really looking forward to the future.”

Timms prides itself on working with younger members of the team to help them progress in their careers. Earlier this month, Timms announced it had promoted Family Law Paralegal, Isabelle Marchewka, who starts a two-year training contract as a trainee solicitor after working for the firm for the last three years.
