A Little Bit About Me

Hi I'm Emily Facer and I’m a Trainee Solicitor at Timms Solicitors. I completed my Law Degree, LPC and Masters in Law at The University of Derby.

I have just celebrated my second anniversary here at Timms, where I started my journey in April 2022 in the conveyancing team. I initially began working as a new business co-ordinator and then moved on to work more closely with the fee earners. I started my Training Contract with Timms in March 2024 and I am currently completing my first seat in Conveyancing at our Burton office.

The Timms Trainee Solicitor Programme

The interviewing process at Timms really allows you the opportunity to talk and showcase your skills, education, work experience and above all your personality.

The freedom to allow you to discuss your career path and achievements really allows the opportunity to present yourself in such a way that demonstrates what kind of future solicitor you could be as well as what kind of work ethic and drive you have .

What I have learnt so far

I have definitely learnt different ways of organising my time and the importance of having a structured plan for the day ahead. Something else I have enjoyed learning is the different forms of legal research you can go through to problem solve as well as investigating the different approaches when dealing with a case.

What I have enjoyed so far

I have really enjoyed taking the knowledge I already have, and developing it to deal with more complex matters, as well as get much more hands on experience.

I really enjoy seeing the client through the whole process, and then giving them the good news on completion day! It’s very rewarding knowing that you have helped the client achieve their goal of buying/selling, this can often be a happy time for the client.

Where to next?

All of my colleagues have been so supportive and this has definitely been a key part in my development.

I am looking forward to the future and developing my knowledge in more complex matters. I am also excited to explore the different areas of law, and the practices involved!
