Public Law Child Care Solicitors
Our Family Law team handle all aspects of public Child Care Law and represent parents and children and their professional guardians.
We often represent other carers of children, children themselves who are able to give instructions to us to make sure their voice is heard in the proceedings, and also the Official Solicitor when a person is under a disability and needs additional support in the Court process.
We aim to accomplish the best result possible in the circumstances.
Children Panel
Four members of the team are on the Children Panel, which means that they can represent children in relation to care proceedings. Representing competent children and young people in proceedings is viewed by the team as a privilege and the trust the young person places in their lawyer is developed over a period of time.
Our Children Panel lawyers give a promise to represent a child themselves, wherever possible, to prevent the young person from having to meet a number of professionals. The team regularly attend Courts throughout the East Midlands, whether in person or remotely, including the High Court where complex cases are often dealt with.
We also offer ‘hearing hubs’ for our clients when remote hearings are necessary so that they can have the reassurance that such hearings are conducted with professionalism and support is offered to the client throughout.
Legal Aid
Legal Aid is available to all parents who are involved in care proceedings without any financial contribution, irrespective of their financial circumstances. This passported Legal Aid means that there is no charge to the client even if they would have sufficient funds to pay for representation. Legal Aid may also be available to others who are involved in cases concerning children and we will ensure that, if you are eligible for Legal Aid, an application is made on your behalf without delay.
