Trainee Solicitor Programme

Timms Trainee Solicitor Programme

At Timms Solicitors, our heritage runs deep, but we’re always looking forward. We’re renowned for providing consistently excellent client service and fostering an inclusive, forward-thinking environment. If you’re driven, eager to learn, and ready to grow, there’s a place for you here.

Meaningful, Hands-On Experience: You’ll rotate through core areas like Family Law, Wills & Probate, Commercial & Residential Property, and Personal Injury/Clinical Negligence to build well-rounded legal skills and confidence from day one.

Tailored Training Path: While the standard training contract lasts two years full-time, we recognise prior legal experience and will happily reduce this timeframe where appropriate.

Structured Support Every Step of the Way: You’ll benefit from a dedicated Training Manager, personalised development plans, and ongoing mentorship to keep your progress on track.

Real-Life Trainee Story

“I am thoroughly enjoying my experience so far at Timms. Everyone is so friendly in all our offices and the reception team always put a smile on your face as soon as you walk through the door.

As an apprentice, I have full support and dedication from Timms in ensuring I am not overwhelmed with my work and studying commitments. I am forever grateful for this and I am inspired by the hard work that those around me put in each day.

Timms also ensures that their staff are happy by arranging various wellbeing events. These have included yoga classes, flower arranging and lunchtime socials. It is nice for a legal firm to dedicate time to their staff, and I enjoy spending this time with my colleagues away from the office environment.

During my time, I have developed into a true professional by learning and reflecting on my colleague’s behaviours and I look forward to continuing my journey at Timms by developing my skills and qualifying as a Solicitor”.

– Sophie Haywood, SQE Apprentice

Growing Talent from Within

“I joined Timms in September 2022 as a Conveyancing Assistant. From the very beginning of my time here, I was given the opportunity to develop within my role and to take on more responsibility. I was later awarded a Training Contract, which I began in March 2024.

During my time at Timms, I have had the opportunity to work within several different teams including the Conveyancing Team, Wills and Probate Team and Care Team. In each department, I have been provided with the support, guidance and training needed to allow me to succeed in my role. The teams are always welcoming and willing to make time to offer their support when needed, which I have found to be a great comfort whilst completing my Training Contract.

Timms is a firm that provides a genuine commitment to the development of its employees. There are several different routes for progression within the Timms team, making it an excellent place to develop throughout your career.

– Sophie Wildsmith, Wills & Probate Solicitor

Sophie’s story speaks volumes about our supportive culture and the opportunities for internal career progression.
