Covid-19 When Can I Move House?

Last night the Government announced it’s plans to re-start the housing market which will help an estimated 450,000 buyers and renters who have had their plans on hold during the crisis.

During the lockdown period, people were only allowed to move house where it was deemed ‘reasonably necessary’ and we have been able to complete sales and purchases of empty properties, if clients are able to make removal arrangements.

When Can I Move House?

The news means that from today (Wednesday 13th May) estate agents can now reopen, viewings can take place and removal firms and conveyancers can re-start their operations as long as social distancing and workplace safety rules are followed.

Anyone in England can move home if they follow new guidance published by the Housing Secretary, Robert Jenrick. However, the property market remains closed in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

My House Move Has Been On Hold, Can I Now Move?

Yes, as long as you respect and abide by the social-distancing rules. We’d recommend talking to your Conveyancer in the first instance though for an update.
