Whether you are separating from your spouse/partner or planning to move in together what do you really need? Advice and answers to all those questions and worries that you may have.

What do I get on a fixed fee appointment on a family matter?

Whether you are separating from your spouse/partner or planning to move in together, what do you really need? Advice and answers to all those questions and worries that you may have.

Advice can come in many forms:

• You may ask your family or friends. They can offer invaluable help and support but are unlikely to be able to give you the correct, unbiased, legal advice that you need. What happened in their divorce may not be right for you.
• The internet. You can find out a lot of information on the internet but even if it is legally correct it may not be personal to you and help you decide what is best for you. AI in the form of Chat GPT or Gemini for example may be a possible starting point but it comes with pitfalls. These have been addressed in our blog (…link to my blog?)
• A 20-minute free advice session. These sessions can be useful but aren’t usually long enough to answer all of your questions once you have explained the details of your situation.

During our fixed fee appointments, we will:

• Listen to you and consider your personal circumstances.
• Go through the law relating to your matter and the legal process with you.
• Personalise the advice that you receive to your individual circumstances so that you can have the information you need to make important decisions in your life.
• Set out your options and the potential associated costs.
• The advice will be confirmed to you in writing following your appointment so that you can participate in the appointment fully and refer back to that advice should you need to do so.

We take time to listen to you, to understand the problems that you face, your particular worries, priorities and concerns. We will answer your questions with honesty and expertise.

It is just the price that is fixed, not the advice you are given.
